Cooper Creek Square is an iconic structure in the hub of downtown Winter Park, CO. The three-story brick building is where visitors go to enjoy great food, live entertainment & local boutiques. While the original building had a built-up-roof, it upgraded to a foam and gravel roofing system 42 years ago; and it was the existing spray foam roofing system which played a pivotal role in the owners' decision to replace or repair the roof on Cooper Creek Square.
In reroof situations, SPF roofing systems may eliminate the need to tear off the existing roof. Due to the closed cell structure of the SPF system, water does not normally penetrate the system to cause a leak, even in areas where there may be minor damage. Thus, Titan Applicators was able to save Cooper Creek ownership tens of thousands of dollars by simply repairing the existing foam roof versus completely tearing off and replacing it with a different roofing material.
The job began in late August 2020 and lasted 3 weeks. Titan Applicators knew time was of the essence as the seasons change much quicker in the Rocky Mountains.
Before beginning the foaming process, a crew of 10 started out by moving away the gravel and scarifying the top layer of existing spray foam and all acrylic coating around the edges and penetrations. Once that was done, they identified specific areas of the roof where the foam was totally compromised, removed it down to deck and made any necessary repairs.
Then, spray foam applicators arrived on site to apply a two-inch layer of new foam directly on top, and fully adhered, to the old foam. When the foaming was complete, the original crew coated the roof edges and around any penetrations and moved the gravel back onto the new foam. They continued this process until the entire roof was complete.
